The effectiveness of local government
administration in Nigeria depends
largely on the
competency and efficiency of the
Secretary to the Local Government
(SLG). The SLG serves as
the administrative engine of the
council, ensuring proper coordination
of departments, accurate
documentation of council
proceedings, reliable record-keeping,
and effective implementation of
council decisions.
Despite their critical role, many SLGs
face challenges such as outdated
administrative systems,
inadequate documentation skills,
weak record-keeping structures, and
poor tracking of council
directives.
This three-day workshop proposed by
Gere Consulting Associates Limited, is
designed to address
these gaps by equipping SLGs with
modern administrative best practices,
standardized
documentation techniques, effective
record management systems, and
actionable approaches to
implementing council decisions. The
training emphasizes both
administrative leadership and
technical skills, ensuring participants
return to their LGAs with tools and
strategies that improve
transparency, accountability, and
service delivery.
